"Morals are at an all time low this milenium then any other." If you believe that, you need to read more history.

Godless souls
by Aleman inhello again!.
i never thought that so many are believers of a godless life.
i would like to know, because i just don't understand, how anyone can live life feeling god does not and can not exist?

No need to be insulted UU. I did not say that all are bitter, but many are.
I'm sure many people here, both theists and non-theists are bitter. I just don't think bitterness is the reason for their beliefs.
And I certainly did not point a finger at you. As for the respect thing. I agree. Some here though, love to rant on the "ridiculousness" of those of us that are of a different suasion than yourself.
Just as the OP points out the ridiculousness of non-theists?
I meant no disrespect.
I apologize if I was over-sensitive.

There will be some godless here shortly to explain themselves I am sure. I think the horrible experience in the Watchtower and wasted time there has embittered many here.
Bolding mine. How insulting. My beliefs are my beliefs, just as deeply and sincerely held as yours, and just as deserving of respect. They are not a manifestation of bitterness. In fact, it's news to me, and I think would be to anyone who knows me, that I'm bitter.
I became aware at a very young age that I didn't believe in God, not as JWs imagine God and not as more conventionally religious people imagine God. Pretending to believe would have been pointless at best.

It may not make any difference, but if it did,....what would you suggest?
by whyizit inmy jw friend and i had a conversation.. it seems she received an anonymous letter from an "apostate" person.
explaining why they left the wts.. of course, this person must have left the jws to pursue a deviate lifestyle.
since there weren't a bunch of sited bible verses to substantiate her claims, my jw friend is trying to dismiss it all as a sour person who thinks they missed having a childhood, due to over-zealous jw parents who were supposedly "too strict".. she comented that had this person given good biblical reasons as to why she left, and supported those reasons biblically--then she might be more inclined to take the letter seriously.. now, i know this is a bunch of bs.

Anyone else here with ADD/ADHD?
by proplog2 ini have had this problem all my life.
i have a child that also has it.
since people with adhd have a problem fitting into organizations do you think it may be one of the reasons why you just couldn't take the jw's any more.

I think ADD is just for parents who do not know how to deal with high energy intelligent children! No offense of course.
Gee, why would I be offended by that?
My daughter has been diagnosed with ADD. She is extremely intelligent; she is not necessarily all that "high energy." She's not the stereotypical "bouncing off the walls" ADD/ADHD kid. She's not undisciplined, either.
She is, indeed, a handful of a child. But the worst of her ADD-related problems occurred at school, not at home with me. At home it's annoying, but nothing I can't deal with, thank you.

Not everything needs to be Biblical, jeez they drive me crazy!
Especially since not everyone looks to the Bible to guide their life choices. Choosing not to do so does not automatically make one a depraved deviant.

A JW's Reaction to the Colorado Church Shootings
by fattire5010 injust to show you the mindset of the typical jw.
i was talking with my mother-in-law who lives only 15 miles from one of the colorado churches where the shootings took place yesterday.
when i expressed my sympathies for the victims and the community, she basically said in a cold-hearted, remorseless way; what do you expect for babylon the great, especially in a church where the priest is a sexual deviant!.

*** w91 11/15 p. 22 par. 15 "An Overseer Must Be . . . Self-Controlled" ***How much harm to the truth has resulted because some elders did not exercise self-control in their dealings with sisters in the congregation! A few years ago, an elder was disfellowshipped because he had committed adultery with a Christian sister whose husband was not a Witness. On the very night that the disfellowshipping of the former elder was announced, the aggrieved husband strode into the Kingdom Hall with a rifle and fired at the two guilty individuals. Neither of them was killed, and he was at once disarmed, but the next day a major newspaper featured on its front page the news of ‘a shooting at a church.’ What reproach that elder’s lack of self-control brought upon the congregation and upon Jehovah’s name!
Bolding mine. Apparently, the the real tragedy in the situation was the "reproach brought upon the congregation and upon Jehovah's name." Not the physical suffering of the two people who were shot. Not the obvious emotional pain of the shooter. Not the grief of the families involved. Not the terror of the people (including children) who must have witnessed the attack. Nope, the real tragedy is that a newspaper printed the story and made the JWs look bad.

"Happifying"? Really? That must have come along after I left. What's the context?
Any and all references to knowing what God thinks/how God feels about things. The arrogance is appalling.

Advice on making up with DF sister

Tell her that you can't make up the time you've lost, but that you would like the two of you to be part of each other's lives from now on. Ask if her she'd like that, too. If she's reluctant, tell her that you understand why, tell her that you'll always be there if she changes her mind, and leave it to her to take the next step. If she wants to make up, too, make plans to get together somewhere, but take it slow and keep your expectations reasonable. It's possible that once you meet, it will be like you were never separated. But it's far more likely that it will take time to bridge the gap and get to know each other again. Give it time and stick with it. Good luck.

I'm surprised they didn't knock at your door to check on you/tell you what was going on. My town has a reverse 911 system to notify residents of emergencies. It's pretty cool, but it scared the crap out of my 14YO DD when she was home alone and got a call telling her to stay in the back of the house away from the windows!
